“Giving Hart” a 501 (c)(3) non-profit vested in doing our part in eradicating child hunger beginning within our own community and extending as our resources grow, into like minded communities who are dedicated to sending no child to bed hungry. When you see a child with a backpack in most cases that backpack is filled with books, nourishment for their growing minds. But for a child who is hungry learning comes second to a good meal. That is why “Giving Hart” is providing backpacks with literal nourishment to assist in providing balance within the lives of children everywhere.
Volunteers from local churches pack our backpacks with six (6) well balanced nutritional meals each Thursday morning once the food has been delivered from a local collection center.
Our backpacks are then delivered to local elementary schools where they are given to guidance counselors for distribution. Each and every Friday hundreds of meals are placed within the hands of anxious students who now have smiles on their faces knowing that their meals have been provided for the weekend.
Imagine enduring weekend after weekend, 99 days of hunger every school year. For these kids they don’t imagine it. They live it.
A donation of $250.00 provides a backpack for one child the entire school year. Any donation is a blessing.
Mission: Eradicating poverty by providing backpack meals for impoverished children.
Vision: Expand our reach to children outside of our local community and go globally.
Everywhere this elementary aged girl went, she walked slowly with her head down.
A counselor noticed, did an assessment and got her into the backpack meals program.
Then every time the girl passed the Counselor in the hallway she would smile BIG and ask
“Do I get my backpack meal this Friday?!”
